Helping Victims of Skull Fractures
At the Law Offices of Sanford M. Cipinko, our attorneys have more than 30 years of experience getting results in personal injury cases in San Francisco and throughout California. Our experience has taught us that every case is different. We are able to alter our approach to a case based on both the unique needs of our clients and the technical aspects of the case.
In fracture cases, this means that we are fully aware of the different types of skull fractures, and are prepared to tailor our representation accordingly.
Linear Skull Fractures
Of the various types of skull fractures, a linear skull fracture the most common. It involves a break in the skull, but no movement of the skull. Most victims who suffer this type of broken bone only face a short hospitalization, although complications can arise.
Depressed Skull Fractures
The key feature of this type of fracture is that the skull is depressed into the brain. Frequently, surgical intervention is required to repair the damage, decrease pressure on the brain and to prevent any further brain injury.
Diastatic Skull Fractures
These are unique types of skull fractures that are more common among newborns and older infants. Diatastic skull fractures are breaks along the lines where the skull bones have fused together, and can be very serious.
Basilar Skull Fractures
Basilar skull fractures are the most serious type of fracture. A basilar skull fracture involves a break at the base of the skull and can result in severe complications, such as a tear in the covering of the brain. In a basilar skull fracture, fluids may drain from the nose or ears. Hospitalization is absolutely necessary.
